Drawing Of The Church
Outlook. Drawing Of The Church

We publish our Church magazine ten times annually. The editors usually ‘take a break’ in August and at the end of the year.

The publication was first produced in June 1969. There was no DTP in those days! The editors of the time, Douglas Wright & Colin Sharpe had to reproduce on a typewriter any contributions offered to them. The typing was done on A5 paper to ensure the continuity of script on to A4 landscape. The magazine cover was produced on a home printing press.

When the items for inclusion were assembled the whole document was typed yet again, this time on to stencils. The stencils were then proof-read and corrected as necessary.

The next step was the duplication, originally wound by hand but later run by electrical power. Each copy produced was then backed with the reverse side paging and finally the whole package was collated with the cover to produce the finished article.

The first issue produced on a computer was February 1998.

In December 1998 an article appeared which suggested that Wollaton Road should consider the benefits of its own Web site! Soon afterwards in February 2000 the present editor produced the first magazine using DTP software - nearly 21 years after the first issue.

Through the pages of the magazine people are able to keep in touch with the daily life of the church through its articles, events listings, list of preaching appointments and much, much more!

An article from the July edition - The Editor’s Choice. "Lord Who Made The Mountains."
 Lord who made the vales and mountains,
Bush and shrub, each tiny flower;
Worked Your art on crystal fountains,
Kindly sent us sun and shower;
May the season’s bright creations
Spread the meaning of Your power.
While the glowing constellations
Light the nightly, velvet hour;
Then as we awake to morning,
Give us strength to face each day:
Filled with wonder at the dawning
Of new hope, in hearts to stay.
